This 475ft long arched bridge creates a framed panorama of the seascape, created for access between the Spa, South Cliff and the town centre. Spa ticket-holders crossed for free but other pedestrians were charged a toll of 1d.
Lobster ravioli and seafood risotto are among the superb dishes at this consistently excellent restaurant but my favourite was the pan-fried halibut - a memorable 'special menu' dish with the fish from Dennis Crooks of Whitby.
